DIRECTOR OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES
For the past five years I have served as director of the undergraduate program (BA and minor) in Applied Linguistics and the undergraduate TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate program at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. In this time, I have gained much valuable administrative experience. I have also accomplished several significant goals, including the growth of the program and its internationalization. Our number of majors has increased by 61% in the past 5 years, from 111 to 177. Our number of international programs has increased from none to seven, including two faculty-led study abroad trips, three international exchange programs, an international internship course and GSU’s first international co-operative education program. We now have one of the highest percentages of majors who study abroad across the entire university.
I am also heavily involved in service at the college and university level, chairing several committees in the College of Arts & Sciences (academic dishonesty), the Honors College (student evaluation) and the Office of International Initiatives (summer bridge program, S. Korea task force).
